Solar Lights
Most solar lights are for the garden, yard, entryway, or for safety. They are convenient to use because you do not need to run wires. It’s a lot easier to install solar lights outdoors.
Solar Colored Light Globes
One of the coolest solar lights is a light up solar globe. They are often sold at Target when in season. They sit on a pedestal and on some of the globes the lights even change colors.
Safety Lights
It’s a good idea to have a light come on when someone approaches the house. That way when you hear the dog bark you can look outside and see who is approaching.
Realistically, when the light turns on it will frighten burglars away. Since, a lot of home crime is done by people that are familiar to the area it makes sense to get a safety light because dark homes without lights can become a target.
Solar Spot Lights
Spots are good to put under trees. It is a good hiding place for the bad person lurking around. On the other hand, it makes the tree beautiful to look at. If you can see the trees and pathways, you’re nighttime landscape will look much better.
Solar Pond Lights
People can often make the mistake of not getting a pool or pond light. Sometimes people forget that the water is beautiful at night. You may consider a floating light or led light for maximum brightness and lowest energy usage.
Sconce Lights
Sconces make the entryway have a different feel. When well done you can get a medieval or even a modern feel. The entryway sconce will be seen more than any other outdoor light. Since it will be a focal point, choose wisely. These lights are still handcrafted around the world. Many of them are made of copper and patina a beautiful green with age.
Post Lights
The post light makes it so you can see a lot of your yard. If you want to see the best, than a post light makes sense. The added height and added size of the light will make it light up more of your yard.
Do you have a dark neighborhood? Some cities actually require a post light out front to make it unattractive for criminals.
Electric Landscape Lights
Landscape lights are sometimes a forgotten piece. It is so expensive to put in the yard that people often scrimp on the lighting. The sad part is that the lighting is usually only a few hundred dollars and one of the most inexpensive parts of the project.
Electric lights can be more powerful than solar lights. Both types are easy to install, but electric should be performed by a professional.
Outdoor solar lights are simple. You just plug them into the cord, run the cord to the transformer, mount the transformer, and plug them in. You should be careful to match the transformer capabilities with the number of lights you are installing.
