When shopping for solar products you should consider the following information.
- The size of your home and the amount of kilowatts your home uses.
- Energy savings that you can implement before purchasing solar. You may not need as big an array as you thought.
- Passive solar designs. You may be able to augment with a passive solar system. You may want to experiment a little with passive solar to see what the effect might and that way you will know what array to purchase.
- How much does your utility charge for energy. An expensive utility makes purchasing solar more cost effective.
- Grid tie costs. Some utilities charge a lot to tie in where others like to support alternative energy.
- Wind power can often be a good addition to solar. If you have a large home in a rural setting than a combination of solar and wind may be your best option. So, consider how wind may augment your solar.
