Solar systems produce Direct Current; what batteries use. That is why you need an inverter to make the energy usable for your home.
For solar applications, we recommend a sealed battery. It’s more expensive, but non sealed batteries need the water levels maintained and recharged. Since a lot of people forget to do this, you may be better off with a sealed battery.
Solar systems work by charging the batteries and the batteries will then charge the home. You may need a battery array to get enough power.
