Worshiping the Sun
Many cultures have worshiped the sun. It makes sense because the sun brings life to everything. The sun rises daily and can be depended on. Further, there is more to the metaphor, of the sun.
The Son of god is Jesus. Like the Sun, Jesus brings light into the hearts of people. As far as the bible is concerned, Jesus created the earth and is the life of the earth. There are many comparisons of Jesus to the actual sun. Many people think that the sun itself is put there to remind us of Him.
In any case, without the sun, there is not life. Similarly, without the Son there is not eternal life. The metaphors can really go on in many ways and are portrayed in many artistic themes, in culture.
