Solfocus
Solfucos makes CPV (concentrated photovoltaic systems). They use optics, at Solfocus, that are so advanced that they claim is that they only need 1/1000 the amount of photovoltaic material in traditional solar panels. Solfocus is claiming a 38% efficiency rate and that is huge because traditional solar panels hover in the 15-18% range.
Like many solar companies, the real value is in commercialization. The idea of a highly efficient solar cell has been created in many labs. The hard part is learning to manufacture high quality on a large scale.
