Solar Power Kits
Many solar systems come in a kit for a complete installation. However, the kits vary depending on what type of project you are doing and what size the project is. The most basic difference is whether the solar is thermal (i.e. passive) or photovoltaic (i.e. active).
A thermal solar kit will come with solar glass and a lot of black or copper hose to be run on the top of a roof (typically). The cost of a solar thermal kit will be lower than that of photovoltaic.
A photovoltaic system will come with the actual solar panels that you see on rooftops. These solar panels will then need an inverter, batteries, and wiring to hook up to the home power grid. The installation of a photovoltaic system is much more complicated and best be done by a serious do it yourself project or a professional (amateurs need not apply).
